Description
I walked outside to see my mother holding a huntsman spider on the end of a rake, about to kill the poor thing. She had encountered it on the outhouse door when she wanted to use that facility. Taking the rake off of her, I placed the poor, frightened creature onto our walnut tree, where it sat still long enough for me to take this photo.
Photographed with a NIKKOR 55-300mm lens, with a Raynox DCR-150 Macro Conversion Lens attached to it. Also had a mounted flash with a built-in diffuser on it, pointed directly at the spider. The most closed aperture of my lens at this zoom was f/25, which I used, and I also used ISO 100. It was nearing the end of dusk as I took this photo.

They're adorable~ It really looks like it's hugging it more than just sitting there; it looks so lazy.
I've never seen this species before and I've gotta say that I'm pretty enamored with the red joints.
